Introduction:
The Environmental Protection and Laborer's Security and Hygiene Unit of China Institute of Technology, recently renamed Environmental Protection and Laborer's Security and Hygiene Committee, was established in 1999. The executive secretary of the committee is responsible for the appointment of security personnel to regularly examine the security and hygiene management of the laboratories and the practical training workshops on campus. On August 1 2005 Environmental Safety Section was established to handle and supervise the security and hygiene management of the school’s laboratories and the practical training workshops.

Major tasks are listed below:

1. To strengthen the safety inspection of fire control and the preparation for emergencies.
2. To provide safety and hygiene education and training for the prevention of natural disasters
3. To conduct environmental impact assessments and supervise the safety of the laboratories and the practical training workshops
4. To monitor and manage the disposal of the liquid and chemical wastes and other contaminated articles produced by various laboratories
5. To investigate and deal with job calamities and collect relevant statistics
6. To carry out assignments from the dean and from the Environmental Protection and Laborer's Security and Hygiene Committee
