Environmental Safety Center

Introduction

The Environmental Protection and Laborer's Security and Hygiene Unit of China Institute of Technology, recently renamed Environmental Protection and Laborer's Security and Hygiene Committee, was established in 1999. The executive secretary of the committee is responsible for the appointment of security personnel to regularly examine the security and hygiene management of the laboratories and the practical training workshops on campus. On August 1, 2005, the Environmental Safety Section was established to handle and supervise the security and hygiene management of the school’s laboratories and practical training workshops.

Major Tasks & Responsibilities

• To strengthen the safety inspection of fire control and preparation for emergencies.
• To provide safety and hygiene education and training for natural disaster prevention.
• To conduct environmental impact assessments and supervise the safety of laboratories and practical training workshops.
• To monitor and manage the disposal of liquid/chemical wastes and other contaminated materials produced by various laboratories.
• To investigate and manage occupational accidents and compile relevant statistical reports.
• To carry out assignments designated by the Dean and the Environmental Protection & Laborer's Security and Hygiene Committee.
