The Art
Gallery Center at China University of Science and
Technology (CUST)
was planned and established soon after the completion of
the Fu-Hwa Building in the year of 2007. It is located
on the 11th floor and covers a total area of 850 square
meters, which is equivalent to 250 pings. There are
three exhibition halls, a studio for preparatory work,
one paintings storeroom, two conference rooms, each of
which contains forty-five people and twenty-eight people
respectively, and a lecture hall that holds as many as
ninety-two people. The purpose of the Art Gallery Center
is to enhance the art disposition of the CUST faculty
and students as well as to provide the community with
art and cultural activities. The center will invite
artists, such as painters, calligraphers, potters,
sculptors, photographers, and so forth to exhibit their
works, which can later be used as teaching materials for
art courses in general education. To celebrate the 40th
anniversary of the school, the center, in its infant
stage, will display, mostly, the works of the
distinguished CUST alumni. Mr. Jen-Dong Hong, for
example, is one of the renowned artists and CUST alumni
specializing in oil painting. Works of other artists
will be on display, too, at the center in the near
future. During the exhibition period, the conference
rooms and the lecture hall will be used for discourses
and forums. Apart from that, they can be arranged as a
place for art courses in general education. |
